Geordie Riddell is a sensible man. He doesn't see the magic that Jilly Coppercorn, his long time friend, does, even though he's been close to it all the while. It takes him years to accept that his almost-girl friend, Sam Rey, disappeared into the past with a ghost.
Geordie's brother is Christy, the resident folklorist. As his primary way of earning a living, Geordie plays his fiddle on the street's corners busking for change. He lives simply and finds enjoyment in the small things.
